Investment Opportunities

Port Elizabeth’s economy is booming! This is mainly due to the increase in investors who have displayed great interest in Port Elizabeth. And so should you!

Why do we say that? Let’s look at Port Elizabeth’s many fantastic characteristics.

Property development is ever on the increase in PE. There is a wide range of excellent properties and real estate available for purchase especially by the waterfront. Here, property owners enjoy clean beaches, magnificent sea views and close proximity to all amenities including an airport, shopping malls, hospitals and excellent schools.

The Eastern Cape is South Africa’s automotive heartland with more than 30 000 employees. Today, DaimlerChrysler, Volkswagen, Ford and Delta use their manufacturing facilities in the Eastern Cape to export vehicles and components worldwide.

The textiles and clothing industry has responded to global challenges and opportunities through swift restructuring and is seizing new business opportunities, especially through new trade agreements with the US and the European Union.

With over 40km of magnificent coastline, Port Elizabeth is firmly tied to the sea. New opportunities have been developed in fish farming and processing. This includes the farming of abalone as well as trout and eels.

Unspoilt by mass tourism, Port Elizabeth’s magical terrains boast a range of activities.

Because of the varied and stable climate, almost every type of crop is grown in the Eastern Cape. At least 70% of South Africa’s pineapples and a third of its tea are grown right in the Eastern Cape. This province is also the world’s 2cnd largest producer of chicory, and it is the leading producer of tomatoes, deciduous fruit and citrus.

Situated 20 km east of Port Elizabeth is the Coega Project. This is a massive new harbour development that will provide thousands of jobs and be a mechanism for major investment in the region. It consists of 12 000 hectares of industrial land and is located adjacent to a new deepwater port, namely the port of Ngquru. The Coega project aims to position South Africa as a platform for global exports by attracting foreign and local investment in manufacturing industries.
