Major Upgrade Expected for the Successful Boardwalk Complex

If it wasn’t so fantastic already, it’s just about to get even better!

The spectacular Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World in Nelson Mandela Bay is investing over R7, 5 million this year in upgrading its facilities.

How successful has this exciting complex been anyway?

Well, The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World is the economic champion of the Eastern Cape. It has been recognized in its outstanding accomplishments in fostering and supporting a culture of excellence in service delivery.

The complex had been nominated for an award by the provincial gambling board, part of the reason being that it contributed over 48% of the revenue the regional government collected from casinos! This stunning complex had totalled R31 million in the last financial year. In addition, surveys have shown that the Boardwalk was the second most popular tourist attraction in the Eastern Cape! Since opening 7 years ago, it has attracted more than 18 million visitors, employed over 1 000 people, paying them close to R53 million a year, paid rates and taxes of R1,1 million, and did business worth R11, 2 million with contractors.

Now, the complex wants to do much much more!  Projects this year would include a R2 million refurbishment of the amphitheatre, R3, 5 million in providing 500 additional parking bays as well as the installation of a R2 million laser-light attraction. The Boardwalk is about to get even more exciting. Additional fantastic restaurants and other exciting shops will be added adding to the shoppers delight!

The expansions are going to be bold and ambitious and would lead to major investment if approved.
