Nelson Mandela Bay Facelift for 2010
Filed in: General News, Property Developments, AllWith the exciting upcoming 2010 Soccer World Cup event, Nelson Mandela Bay is preparing itself in everyway! In fact, besides the numerous property developments taking place, the Nelson Mandela Bay is set to undergo a beautification process before the 2010 World Cup hits South Africa.
A unique mosaic tower is said to be set up at the intersection of Njoli and Mati roads in Njoli Township.
This mosaic is said to depict Xhosa women in traditional attire, some with tobacco pipes in their mouths. The aim of this spectacular design is to uplift and beautify the Njoli area.
There has been a major focus on uplifting African culture and spiritualism in Port Elizabeth. Many organisations are keen to support this unique project recognising the need to promote African culture.
It is good for such mosaics to be erected, especially in historically African townships, because they will be solemn reminders of the peoples culture. In addition, it will increase the value of the area.
Meanwhile, numerous other exiting developments are taking place in the Nelson Mandela Bay. Besides the major CBD upgrade, the R21-million upgrading of Parliament Street in Central is already progressing.
Any beautification carried out by Nelson Mandela Bay residents is greatly appreciated and recognised.
