PERCCI

Filed in: All, Companies and Organizations

The Port Elizabeth Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in 1994 with a view to fostering, encouraging, promoting, protecting, developing and establishing commercial and industrial enterprises within the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality.

They are completely committed to economic development. Their aim is to be the leading and dynamic Business Chamber contributing actively to creating an enabling economic growth environment for members and the Nelson Mandela Metropole.

PERCCI is a non-profit business association and is a representative of a broad spectrum of businesses in the Nelson Mandela Metro. In fact, it is the largest business association in the Eastern Cape with a membership of close to 1 000 businesses!

PERCCI has also taken the lead in business transformation. They have achieved this through their Black Economic Empowerment project, through new members and through the current members’ impartiality.

The Board consists of elected members, who proportionately represent the interests of member companies within their business sectors. The Board meets on a regular basis with the objective of directing policy and the affairs of the Chamber.

Their main objectives?

• To provide value-adding services to their members
• To develop and strengthen relationships with all stakeholders
• To promote the Metro as an investment destination
• To Initiate and facilitate key economic projects
• Communicate and inform all stakeholders of relevant issues
• Initiate and facilitate business unity
• Maintain financial viability
• Broaden and maintain its membership base

Their current initiatives include:

• A technical multi-purpose conference centre
• The NEPAD provincial conference
• Coega Industrial Port and IDZ
• Job Creation
• The Statue of Freedom
• Relocation of the Ore Berth and Tank Farm to the port of Ngqura
• Urban renewal of the broader CBD area

PERCCI aids in the development of Port Elizabeth’s economy and we have seen many fantastic changes made by them.
