Picnic Time
Filed in: Activities, AllThe weather is perfect and the need to get out and spend time with friends and family is there. With our lush and magnificent parks, picnicking in Port Elizabeth is fantastic!
Situated in the city centre is the beautiful Settlers Park. This park boasts 54 hectares of
lush forests, shimmering streams, a diversity of magnificent birds and beautiful flora and fauna. The beauty and idyllic nature of this park makes it a perfect destination for enjoyable picnics. Sit back and enjoy the lyrical sound of the birds, the ever-flowing streams and the hushing noise as the breeze runs through the leaves of the many trees. There are also stunning peacocks and guinea fowls which love to roam this park and check up on what you are doing. For a little action, there are numerous hikes offering breath taking views as well as a few mystical caves which one can enjoy and explore.
St Georges Park is a favourite among many. Pools, the bowling club, botanical garden, walkways, garden theatre and lush fauna and flora are all found in the large park. St Georges is ideal for jogging, walking, rollerblading and picnicking. The garden theatre often
hosts Shakespearian plays and musical concerts. This is when picnicking becomes extra special. For a small fee, you can picnic whilst enjoying the theatres events! For a combination of picnicking and shopping, enjoy a picnic during ‘art in the park’ the first Sunday of every month. Here, people gather together selling different crafts and delicious foods. One can also enjoy the spectacular jazz music that fills the air.
Enjoy picnicking in peaceful and safe surroundings. Share memories and laughs with friends and family. Enjoy sumptuous snacks and relax amongst beauty. This is what picnicking in Port Elizabeth is all about. Ah, the good life!
