Postcard Decorating Competition

If you boast a flair for creativity and colour, you might have what it takes to have your items exhibited at a top London art gallery!

Design and create a gorgeous postcard and enter this exciting competition! The Oliver Foundation‘s “Art-from-the-Heart” postcard decorating competition runs for the entire month of March so start now! Closing date for entries is March 31.

All attractive entries will be displayed during an exhibition at the famed Red Location Museum, New Brighton, in the Nelson Mandela Bay in April.

After local judges select 200 of the best entries from this exhibition, they will be sent off to London. The postcards will form part of an exhibition of South African art at the Smithfield Gallery in June, where judges will select the final winners.

Of course, apart from the prestige of having your own creation on display in a top London art gallery, great prizes are also up for grabs. Winners in the 5 different categories stand a chance to win prizes ranging from assistance with school requirements to the value of R850 as well as a cash prize of R350 for the winner of the under-eight years of age category, to a cash prize of R1200 for the winner in the adult category. The two runners up in each category will receive a cash prize of R300.

Do you have what it takes? The competition is open to all ages. In addition, lovely art packs containing blank postcards, guidelines for an art lesson prepared by a professional artist and basic drawing materials such as pencils, crayons and felt-tipped pens, will be provided to schools wishing to encourage their pupils to enter the competition.
