St.George’s Preparatory School

Nestled between a gorgeous lush park and magnificent landscapes, St Georges is a truly exquisite school. It boasts beautiful old buildings styled with Victorian décor, fantastic amenities, superb playgrounds and stunning gardens.

Raymond Hutchinson was a dedicated educationist and bought a stately home in gracious Park Drive, Port Elizabeth. In 1936, he founded a private school that was committed to providing young boys with an excellent all-round preparation for high school and adolescence. The first enrolment numbered approximately 50 boys with 25% being boarders. Their school became co-ed in 1987 and welcomed the girls.

Today, St.George’s Preparatory School continues to provide an excellent, balanced, all-round grounding for young boys and girls! As a private school with a low pupil/staff ratio they are able to devote extensive individual attention to every child.

St.George’s is committed to continuing its tradition of academic, sporting and cultural excellence, whilst equipping your child with the life skills and experiences designed to help them meet the challenges of the changing world.

At St.George’s, they aim to provide children with an exceptional, progressive and holistic education in a happy, caring, yet disciplined environment. They encourage pupils to think for themselves; enjoy the experiences of learning in a wide range of educational, sporting, cultural and social activities; develop their unique talents to the fullest; acquire valuable life skills; consider and serve others and accept responsibility and the challenges of life today.

Every Friday afternoon, the staff run a program whereby the children are able to develop interests outside of the curriculum. This includes: art, board games, beadwork, chess, computers, cooking, crafts, sailing, modelling, fabric painting, decoupage, ten pin bowling and so much more! Your child is bound to find something he/she is very interested in. They also offer a wide variety of fun and exciting sports!

St. Georges boasts true excellence in education with the added benefit of being in magnificent surroundings. Give your child the best!
