We have so Much to be Thankful For!
Filed in: General News, AllPort Elizabeth citizens are often teased. People living in other surrounding major cities in South Africa accuse Port Elizabeth of being boring, small, having nothing to do and never hosting awesome events! Well, let’s test this theory.
Let’s face it, when in other major cities in South Africa the traffic is implausible and it take’s the drivers anywhere between 1-3 hours to finally get home if they are lucky. Yet in Port Elizabeth, to get to the mall: 10 minutes, to get to a shop on the opposite side of PE: 15 minutes, and to get home in peak hour traffic: 30 minutes on a bad day. Anyone complaining?
Our beaches are pristine and endless. We have real beaches with natural sand, rocks, sea
water and fantastic waves that are not manufactured by major corporations. Our sea water is ideal for swimming. The water is not so incredibly ice-cold that it takes 2 minutes before the feeling in our entire body is eliminated. In Port Elizabeth, the citizens enjoy swimming and have even made a tradition out of it. Every 1 January, every PE resident is in that water celebrating a new year. Our beaches are fantastic and beautiful. In addition, when we go for a swim, we can leave our wallets and keys on our towel and return with them still being there. Few places can say they have that.
Port Elizabeth has also hosted numerous awesome and rocking events. (See article: ‘who says famous people never come to Port Elizabeth!’)
And then there’s the crime. When we stop at red robots, there are very few areas where we fear stopping and begin looking in our review mirror. In most areas, we can drive up our drive-ways and not become paranoid of possible muggers hiding in the trees. We do not require security cameras in our homes and major burglar bars that make our homes appear as a jail. Yes, there is crime in Port Elizabeth, but it is vastly diminutive compared to other major cities.
In Port Elizabeth, there are plenty of trees. Very few have been demolished and there is plenty of greenery along the roads. Our parks are lush and magnificent ideal for safe and pleasurable picnics.
PE boasts numerous elite cocktail bars and restaurants offering sumptuous top class meals. Our accommodation is also fantastic.
There’s plenty to do and plenty to see in Port Elizabeth. Our movie tickets are much cheaper, our facilities our great, our food is cheaper and our hospitality is better. Welcome to the friendly city!
We do have so much to be grateful for in Port Elizabeth.
